Hurricane Rita

25 September 2005

This post might not be too long because I am a klutz and therefore do not have much use of my right index finger. I smashed it in the car door, so now it is an odd shade of turquoise under the nail. So my parents evacuated to our house, and then they went back home today and everything is fine at our house tho they dont have electricity. It was a wierd few days though. One aunt and uncle spent 10 hours in a car and only went less than 20 miles. Others ran out of gas on interstate 45. But after it is all done, everyone is fine and the storm didnt seem to do as much damage as it could have so that is a blessing!! Thank you Lord! :) Anyway here is a really cute picture of my dog Daisy (on the right) who evacuated with my parents, and our dog Gracie. They are so totally cute and the best two dogs in the entire world! :)

Happy Birthday Cliff!

12 September 2005

What a fun weekend!! To celebrate Cliff’s birthday we went down to Austin on Friday to visit Tim and Laura. We ate some yummy Mexican food at a restaurant and then had cookie cake and Cliff opened presents. It was a nice visit, tho quick. On Saturday we went down to Kenedy to visit John. That was so nice and relaxing too! Since John’s birthday is tomorrow, they both blew out the trick candles and there was also a candle that Melinda had that played Happy Birthday. Cliff’s mom had given him some fun horns, so we blew those and ate some yummy ice cream cake and it was lots of fun. We visited their church this morning. It is so pretty with lots of stained glass windows in it that all have pictures of some Bible story and John used the windows to do the children’s sermon. We went to a Sunday school class taught by a great guy named TJ. The drive home was very long! But it was a great trip! It was very good to catch up! So now I am off to bed after not doing much in the way of schoolwork this weekend, but that is okay. Some things are just more important. Sweet dreams, everyone.

Friends are Fantastic

9 September 2005

Look at my friend Lydia. Isn’t she fun looking! :) She is fun! She came and had dinner with us today. Interesting side note, Lydia is one of about three girl names that Cliff and I have agreed on that we like. Of course if we still know Lydia when we have a girl, which we probably will, that might be a little odd. :) (Rebekah and Ann or “Annie” were others. He shot down my Emily and Alyssa :( ) Anyway, I had a blast shopping with her today and then we had some yummy spaghetti, with BEEF since Jon isnt a big beef fan. :) I miss hanging out with them both because they are such kindred spirts, to use a good Anne-with-an-E of Green Gables word. They are great and I am glad that at least they are only in Fort Worth and not in Kansas City because then we would never see them. and God decided for Lydia to still work in Waco one day a week, so that is a blessing on many levels and it makes me happy!

On a side note, about shopping, I cannot find any cute brown sandals anywhere! I have looked all summer. I mean really, I can’t even find any brown sandals, much less cute ones. There are a few granny-looking ones out there, but not a cute one in sight! So if you find some, please let me know where so I can go check them out!!
Now here are two more sweet girls that I miss a lot! I am glad I got my wedding pics so that now I have more fun pictures to scroll through my screen saver :) To Erin and Missy, as the third week of school comes to a close, I am thinking of you and hope teaching is going well! :) Love you!!

I can hardly believe tomorrow is Friday. Seems like it was just the last weekend and we were driving , with Gracie panting LOUDLY from the backseat! :) We had a great visit at my parents house last weekend. I love going home, it is so restful and you just feel calm and loved! That is how home is supposed to be! And it was nice time to be with Clifford! :) By the way, Cliff says that he loves me ;) I always hate to go to school on Monday morning after we get to hang out all weekend long! Its almost the weekend again! Yayyy!

Catching up with a friend is glorious. Girl talk is dessert for the soul. I just had a lovely dinner with a friend and it was so nice! Now I can do schoolwork and it won’t seem so bad. :) I got to go shopping today, that was fun too. Wow am I a girly girl.
