Scrapbooks and more
I have been able to spend some time with girlfriends this week and it has been great. Today I went shopping with Erin who was in town visiting her parents for the weekend. Keep her dad in your prayers as he is battling with cancer right now. We went to Hobby Lobby where they had a half off sale on scrapbooking stuff. Now I think scrapbooks are just beautiful creations. I am in awe of the things some people can create. I have never really tried it myself, other than one that I started the summer I went to Harlingen and Mexico. But in an effort to be cheap, I only bought one pack of paper and only used that paper on pages without clear covers and the book wasn’t really sturdy enough to hold all the picture weight so it isn’t that great. But I really want to make a nice one of our trip from the summer. So I got a beautiful book and lots of fun pages and a few accessories. It is amazing how much this stuff costs. I could not have gotten all this if it was full price. People spend small fortunes scrapbooking their kids every waking activity. Now I myself want to be a stay at home mom, and I am sure that I will take way too many pictures of my kids, but it is amazing how much scrapbooking some people do. How do they have that much time on their hands? We will not be getting cable at our apartment for various reasons (1. save money 2. not waste time watching tv hopefully 3. we lived without tv all summer, so why start back?) so maybe in my spare time I will scrapbook our trip. Of course, the plan was for card making (stamping) to be a hobby and that hasn’t really happened. Maybe it was because we had cable and so I just spent time watching TLC and HGTV and never thought about making cards. Or maybe it was that I had to haul all the stuff out and make a mess that then had to be cleaned up. And I never really felt very creative or in the mood to stamp. I did however make a bunch of cards in batches a couple of times, so the stuff has definitely paid for itself. And I can use stamps in my scrapbook. Hopefully I can make a spot on my nice built in bookshelves by the table so that I could just pull it off the shelf and spread out on the table. Maybe put all the equipment in a pretty photo box so that it looks decent. Maybe when I am done I can put the scrapbook up on my mantle, since I picked one that will go with my living room. Maybe then I will go get a snack out of my pantry. And then I can put my dishes from the snack into the dishwasher. And then I can go sit on my porch with my dog. And then I can go to the bathroom, even if Cliff is in the bathroom too, since there are two of them. Look at all the fun new words I can use to describe what I can do in my new apartment… bookshelves, mantle, pantry, dishwasher, porch, dog, bathroom….wow! I think this next week is going to go verrrry slowly because I am so ready to move!
Yes I am silly and I know it but do you realize that we have not lived in a place of our own for about 15 weeks now??? All the plans we made for the summer and how we might possibly move and how we would find a place to live have been a little harder than I imagined. But overall not bad really. I am not trying to complain about where we live. I had a blast living with J and M! God was with us this summer (all four of us) because it was a really sweet time and so special to get to be with friends and not have fights or unpleasantness or anything! And it is such a blessing to be living here rent free and to spend time with Fred. But I know I will rest better being in our home. We got a scare last week when the apartment lady called and said that we might have to move in a week later because of some miscommunication with the people moving out of our apartment…but thankfully we still get to move in on the 8th. Next week will be a 3 day school week, with Labor Day and I am taking off on Friday to move. So that will be lovely and hopefully my kids won’t eat the sub alive. Poor things are going to be bored doing worksheets for 90 minutes. But they will get over it and have a much rested teacher on the next Monday. I think mom is going to stay with me that next week and help get settled, and that will be really fun. Okay…enough rambling, I am going to go watch some TV with my great hubby.
