Lately…
24 April 2007
I am sorry that I am not a very good blogger. Thank you for still checking in! I haven’t blogged about much lately really so here is what has been going on with me. If you read Cliff’s blog, you probably already know some of this.
Over Spring Break, we went to the Zoo with the Watson’s, but we also went to Galveston because I had a hankering for a beach and some sand and surf in my toes. I never used to be a beach person, but I really like it now. I like the water coming in and out and the sound of the ocean. I like the breeze too.
We went to the Ennis Bluebonnet Festival. It was awesome. (Well not the festival part really, it was just okay, but the bluebonnets were crazy!) I mean you could see hills for miles that were BLUE because there were so many flowers. As a kid, we would take trips to go look at bluebonnets in the Hill Country. They are so beautiful and I am glad I live in a state where we have pretty wildflowers beside our roads.
The next week was TAKS week. Four days in a room with the same 20 eighth graders all day every day! It was crazy! But they worked hard and we will know how they did at the end of school. Now we just have to convince the kids to keep working for six more weeks. Well really five since the last week is finals. I can’t believe this school year is coming to a close! It has been a rough year but there are definitely bright spots and God has sent me blessings all year to keep me going and give me strength, such as: a great Christian principal, wonderful young friends/teammates, a good math teacher neighbor to plan with, a wonderful honors class, and some sweet kids in my regular classes to balance out the tough ones.
This past weekend we went to C-town to go to a wedding of my friend Beth. We have been friends since 2nd grade. We did so much together in the course of our schooling: made house books, had a “Baby-sitters Club”, played tennis, did drill team, created yearbooks, made sonic runs, and so much more! She looked beautiful and the wedding was simple and sweet.
We also sent our friends overseas a box of goodies and here is precious Nate playing in the box! I did not anticipate that after I got home, I would want to go back so soon. But I would love to be able to make a trip there this summer to see everyone and be with the T people and try to speak some T again, even to eat (some of) the food and to see our town where we lived. I like seeing other parts of the world. My problem is that I let fear get in my way of fully enjoying things while I am there. It was a good way through our stay in Sea Town before I could totally relax. I was very safe there but my mind is good at inventing things to be scared of that rob me of my joy. Once I began to relax, it was almost time to go! I hope and pray that the next time I am some place foreign I can place my trust in the Lord and really soak up all the culture and new things that there are to discover.
Nate…Teresa Tayze (aunt teresa) says hi and she misses you! Seni seviyorum!
