  1. Everybody’s moving to wordpress! What is so different about it? The interface seems mostly the same, except for the calendar and the tabs at the top. Is it better on the back-end administrative part?

(I like the layout, btw, I just am trying to figure out if it’s worth the move.)

  2. Yeah, I agree Blogger needs to come out with some new layouts. I guess they figure third-party people are doing it, so they don’t need to? Still, I wish they would. I do like the three column layout. Hm…I wonder if there are any blogger templates with that. If I used a third-party layout, would I still be able to edit it so easily? Margie used one…I wonder what she thought. (Of course, I think she’s moving to wordpress, too!)

  3. I’ve thought about making Ian’s blog on wordpress. John and I have a web hosting service called Dreamhost, and its blog option is through wordpress. I’m hoping to work on our family website (it’s technically johnandkaren.com, but there’s nothing there). I’ll probably just link my prophecies blog from there, but have Ian’s set up as wordpress.

  4. I like the templates and the three column design and the tabs at the top. There are more things to work with in the administrative part, I don’t know if you would call that better exactly or just more complex, I am still trying to figure that out. I just can’t believe Blogger still has the same templates as when I started my blog like 3 yrs ago!

I do wish wordpress had java/html capabilities. I don’t know how I managed to get Joe’s Goals to work, but I can’t get my Joshua Project widget to work and I don’t know how your new ones with music and the election would work.

  5. I found the Blogger templates from third parties to be attractive but you have to start from scratch on your sites, tabs, etc. I like wordpress because it does have more options. I like the layout and the switch!

  6. @lydia: I tried using a Pyzam template for blogger, but I lost all my widgets and sidebar stuff when I switched to it which was sooooo frustrating! And something weren’t the same, like my link color and the size of stuff. And I couldn’t figure out how to change it.

@hubby: thanks for changing the buyshoessavelives picture. :)

@karend: The nice thing is if you switch over, wordpress will import everything really easily!

  7. WordPress rocks! We had a blogger blog and it was hard to use. WordPress has been fabulous. I’m so pro WordPress that it hurts. I think I’ll declare a holiday for WordPress. It’s easy to use, it’s more intuitive to use, and it’s just plain way way cooler.

So, tomorrow is WordPress Appreciation Day. Go forth and appreciate.

    T, I love the new look! It’s great! :)

  8. Yay pictures are showing up in my recent comments area! I think that is cute too. I don’t know how to make mine show up. Maybe I have to be logged in? Yes! It worked!

  9. I LOVE the recent comments feature on all y’all’s wordpress blogs. Wish blogger had that.

John tells me that Ian’s future blog will be johnandkaren.com/blog and it’ll be wordpress. And I’ve almost got our homepage ready!

  10. So I’m a little slow to join the party…I’ve been thinking about making the switch as well, but I tend to resist change, so I probably won’t. Unless everyone else does.
