Roomie Visit

29 June 2008

Last week I got to hang out with an amazing girl and a former roommate. She is seven months pregnant and so very cute! My VERY SWEET hubby volunteered the idea that instead of flying up to the CBF convention in Memphis, we could drive and he could drop me off at her house along the way. So that is just what we did, with his new (to us) car, Green Lantern, getting slightly beat up when some guy pulled into the side of us while driving through Nacogdoches. And then we nearly got crushed by a large train coupler sliding off the back of an eighteen wheeler while standing in a parking lot. But other than that minor way to start the trip, I had SO much fun!

We pretty much got to be total bums, enjoying lazy summer days of being a teacher, 99 cent sonic shakes, and lots of TLC. And I mean the channel. So basically our days resembled college without the interruption of class. Awesome! :) Thanks for letting me come hang out!

By the way, if you haven’t checked the blog in the last four or five days, you need to scroll down and read some posts you might have missed. Because I got all blog-happy on Wednesday and wrote like 5 posts and just scheduled one to post each day. And since I haven’t been too regular of a blogger, some of you folks may have given up on checking in. So go back and catch up! :)

The lead worship at our church and they have just made a CD that is so great! Here is a video to go with one of the songs.  You can also hear some other songs if you go to their website and then click “music”. Let me know if you want to buy a CD. It’s $15. I don’t think they are on itunes yet but they will be soon. I can buy one from our bookstore and send it to you.

Bargains!

27 June 2008

Oh, how I love me some GAP outlet! You would not believe the bargains I have found there! I got all 8, count em, EIGHT of these super-cute articles of clothing for a rough total of……$68!!!! That averages out to like $8ish an article of clothing. But really the three shirts on the right were $2.99, $2.99, and the sea-foam green shirt…..$1.99!!!!!! And its one of those “favorite T’s”! I don’t think I can use enough exclamation points to tell you how excited I am about this purchase.

I have recently ousted some of my clothes. Khaki capris that got a little worn in Turkey as they line dried, black gaucho-ish capris that have absolutely no shape and I don’t know what I was thinking. A skirt or two that is just not comfy in the waist band.

And many of my comfy summer T’s seem to have armpit stains, or they are a little too tight, or they need a cami under them.I have taken a vow to not buy things that HAVE to be worn with a cami, because it is just too hot here to layer!

These shirts all meet the requirements of: not tight in the armpits, not too low to need a cami or be indescent when bending near the desk of a pre-teen, not too short to show “butt cleavage” as Tyra referred to today on her show, and not to be see-through. Are these things too much to ask? I think not. But if you have shopped lately, you have seen that it is hard to find shirts that fill all these high and mighty requrements. Anyway, I am super excited and had to share my find BigMama-style. By the by, go read her blog if you haven’t already, it is too funny.

Sewing Project

25 June 2008

So…in honor of some special ladies who are preggo/pregNENto…. (LAP and my former roomie) I broke out the ole sewing machine. The idea started when I went to Old Towne Spring with some friends from sunday school the other day, and one very stylish and talented lady had a nursing cover that she had made. It looked really easy to make and a lady that I teach with had also mentioned making one for her daughter. So I researched on ye ole internets trying to find a pattern. Well I didn’t find a pattern per se, but I did find some suggestions. I set off to JoAnn’s to find some cute fabric and a couple of hours later, here is the result!

Here is a close up of the fun dot fabric and the other side, which is a light green terrycloth.

Here you can see the boning in the neck area that is supposed to let you see what is going on.

Anyway, it was lots of fun to make, so if you happen to be preggo/pregNENto…maybe you should put in your order of your favorite colors and thereby save me a trip to the always-confusing aisles of Babies R Us!
