Goals met!

Goals met!

In January of 2008 I p0sted the following financial goals:

Goals for the new year: Being a good steward of money

Our main goal is to pay off student loans, and stay debt-free other than those loans. If/When we have to buy a car, we don’t want a lot of debt with that.

Pay off my loan totally by August
Pay $X a month towards it

Set up a savings account to pay off Hubby’s loans
Get a good interest rate
Snowflake” any saved money into it
After August, pay $X a month into it
Pay any tax refund towards loans

Buy a car and pay off within a year or pay cash
Research a good deal
Put money in a car fund each month

Put money away for home owner’s association dues every month.

And I am happy to report that, two years later.. in 2010, I can say that we met all of these goals! Praise God for that blessing! We didn’t manage to meet them as soon as I intended, but I am very thankful to say that we did meet them eventually. Mvelopes did help us do this, so don’t forget to sign up by January 31st to get a good deal. Click here to read my blog post about it.

New goals for 2010:

  1. Continue to be debt free (except the one monster student loan that is left)
  2. Continue to save towards year end goals like HOA dues and Christmas money
  3. Save money each month to pay in a big lump towards the monster loan

Ode to the garage

Ode to the garage

The place we now live is the first place in my life that has afforded me the luxury of a garage. I feel like I may have blogged about this before. Sorry if I have. I realize this won’t be that exciting of a post to most of you. Especially if you have always lived with a garage.

I love having a garage. I love having a garage door opener. We got ours for Christmas a few years ago. A silly present to ask for it might seem, but so worth it! Today it was really cold when I went to the grocery store. And the wind was blowing! I thought my fingers would freeze to the shopping cart as I was walking to my car. But when I got home, I backed my Wheezer into the garage and proceeded to unload my groceries in relative warmth. It was awesome. So I just thought I should take a minute to thank the Lord for the simple pleasure of a garage.

Anywhere a cat can go…

Anywhere a cat can go…

Someone once told me the way to identify a preposition in a sentence is to remember that a preposition is anywhere a cat can go. Well my cat goes lots of places. Here are some funny pictures of where we have found our cat Buddy over the past five years.
