She’s a rockin’ and a rollin’

Randomness….

  • Baby Girl is quite the mover and shaker these days! Sometimes my stomach moves so much it is comical to watch and imagine what she must be doing in there! I have had indigestion a good bit, and am now waking up at least twice every night to use the bathroom. Fun times!
  • Last week was my first full week off for the summer. I worked on my to-do list the first few days, and then rested the next couple of days. I realized that I will not have time to myself to just rest and not work or take care of a child again for a long time, so I better take advantage of it!
  • This week is VBS! I am working in the 5 year old room and today we had 19 kids. It went well, but I am pretty tired. I came home and took a nice nap!

  • Here is a picture of us from the hubby’s grandmother’s 80th birthday party that we went to a few weekends ago. He has lost more than 20 lbs!  (He is using an iphone app called Lose It to keep track of calories.) Go Hubby! Our anniversary is coming up this weekend! Happy Anniversary to all you other folks out there with June anniversaries! Our pastor preached a good message on marriage last Sunday called “Married with a Mission”. Here it is.
  • Anyone following the Big 12 issue? I think they should just leave it all alone! It will be interesting to see how it turns out. We drove around Baylor last time we were in Waco. I got all teary eyed thinking of how much I love that school. (and some pregnancy hormones probably thrown in there too…)  It has so many special memories and was such a sweet time! Thanks Mom and Dad for sending me there!

Last Day!

8 June 2010

Last week I taught my last day of school for a while.

Here are some moments:hms (30)

Some sweet students in my 5th period.

hms (10)

My favorite tradition at Hamilton is how on the last day of school, the staff “waves off” the buses as the kids leave. The bus drivers honk and the kids and teachers wave and everyone is excited that school is out for the summer!

hms (15)

Our principal says a little something about each person retiring or resigning and gives a hug and gift.

What a nice place to work! Now I just get to be a teacher to one sweet little student!

Today is the beginning of my first week of not being a teacher! Crazy isn’t it?! I am sure I will find lots of fun things to do to fill my time. Possibilities include:

preggo yoga with a friend

getting our recalled dishwasher scheduled to be fixed

the AC guy coming to add freon

lunch with someone

researching carpet cleaners (any good recommendations?)

cleaning out the hubby’s desk and putting it on craigslist

making banana pancakes

reading!

sleeping late!!

Yippee!!!

Preggo Comments and Maternity Photography

5 June 2010

Wow, 14 posts in the month of May! That may be a new record for me! But I notice that I get the most comments on pregnancy related posts. Is that because it is a universal theme, that all mothers feel they can comment on?

Well I had a wonderful friend recently take some maternity pictures of me. Her name is Lydia and her business is called LMNovations Photography. Here is a glimpse of a couple of my favorites that she said I could share.

Go here to find out about lmnovations photography. (the link is also in my sidebar)

I highly recommend Lydia!  Especially if you live near Arkansas! And she sometimes goes to DFW so maybe if you are lucky, you could snag here there!

Summer Reading

3 June 2010

summer reading (2)

Here is my stack of summer reading!

The best book store in H-town is near our house: Katy Budget Books. And it has a yearly sale where hardbacks are $1 and paperbacks are less than that, so before our beach vacation I stocked up on some cheap books.

I have already read Babywise and The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy. Now that school is out, I will actually have some time to read. I anticipate a summer with reading by the pool or in the hammock with a nice cold glass of lemonade!

Does anyone recognize a title of one that they liked? I am taking recommendations for what to read next or a summer must-read that is not pictured here!

I heart organization

Here are some organizing projects I have done lately:

(Can you say “nesting?”) But really, I have loved to organize all my life.)

closet organize (2)

This closet used to look like we opened the door and threw things in it. Which is not too far from the truth. Notice the girl and boy keepsake tubs at the back.

bath organize (1)

The previously unused middle junk drawer of the bathroom now houses makeup.

bath organize (2)

I am also trying to get rid of the stuff that I store under my sink that I don’t actually ever use!

Next project: The guest room closet! If you don’t hear from me in a few days, you might need to come dig me out!
