Walking through life

Walking through life

Little Miss E LOVES to walk with you holding her fingers. She would rather do this than anything! We thought she would skip crawling altogether, but the past day or two she has taken a couple of crawl strides. It sure would alleviate some back pain around our house if she would just crawl.

So VBS finished out well and we really enjoyed our visit from family. We went to VBS family night on Friday and E had fun playing. Saturday we took it easy and enjoyed a lazy day mostly, except a swim birthday party which was fun.

Sunday was church and also two special holidays…Father’s Day (C’s first) and our 7th Anniversary! (Here is a fun post I wrote once about our anniversaries.) We went to church and came home to eat leftovers for lunch. Then E and I took naps. Then we went to Target and Taco Cabana for dinner. It was a nice leisurely dinner with E having fun eating her food and us having a nice chat while trying to get her to not drop her food on the floor. We will go for our actual anniversary date on Wednesday. Our friends will babysit and we have a gift card to use to a nice restaurant.

Last year we went there for our anniversary after attending birth class.

Yes, we spent 6 hours of our 6th anniversary learning about how to birth a baby.

Luckily our instructor was hilarious! It was a Saturday so we had to wait like an hour or more at the restaurant, but we shouldn’t this time, since it is on Wednesday.

Monday I went to Old Navy and used my two groupons. I bought myself one ($10 for $20 of merchandise) and my sweet hubby bought me one as a gift so I had two. Then I went to  Target where I was in search of these sweet little bowls that caught my eye a long time ago. I had found them for $1.74 but there was only one, so I went to a different Target and found a lot, and bought 5.

Today involved a trip to the library where I got some fun books that I will be blogging more about tomorrow.

Hope you had a great day!

NEO Challenge

NEO Challenge

The No Eating Out Challenge!

I am challenging myself that we will not eat out until July 15th! Anyone want to join me?

The rules are:

No spending money on restaurant or fast food.

That’s it.

It is okay to get a free meal (i.e. Chick Fil A Cow Appreciation Day on July 8) and it is okay to use a gift card (which we are going to do Wednesday for our anniversary). Also it is okay to eat out if it is someone else’s treat. :)

The main reason I am doing this is to save money. We really shouldn’t be spending money to eat out right now but we do anyway and so I am going to try to go cold turkey. My hub is really better about this than me, I am usually the one to cave and want something. The trick is when we don’t have anything in the house that sounds good.

So that is the goal, comment if you want to join in on this challenge. I figure if I tell people about it, I am maybe more likely to follow through.

10 month milestones

10 month milestones

Baby E turned 10 months old yesterday!

  • She can say dada, dog “digle”, cat “at”, and maybe some other things, who really knows? :)
  • She does call our cat “at”, but sometimes she also calls the dog “at” and lots of other things. We think she is calling both C and I “dada”. She also might think all pictures are “dada”.
  • She signs “all done”.
  • She walks around holding on to your fingers. Just recently she can do this holding on to just one hand.
  • She stands alone for a few seconds.
  • She will eat pretty much anything. She is good at feeding herself. Her favorites are mandarin oranges and pears.
  • She can scootch/army man crawl but doesn’t really like to. She would much rather you help her walk.
  • She can clap and play peekaboo and pattycake and wave.
  • She likes reading books and turning the page. She will turn the page if you tell her to. Her favorite book is “First 100 words”. She will say “at” (cat) when she sees the page with the cat on it.
  • She will give you a kiss if you ask her to. She also kisses all her stuffed animals.
  • Just a day or two ago, she figured out how to stand up in her crib. Bummer. So now we will occasionally find her sitting up or standing up crying in her crib.
  • She has been waking up at 6:45 am. (oh that she would just sleep til 7). On days we are home, she will take two 1.5-2 hour naps a day at like 9 am and 1 pm. Then she goes to bed between 7 and 8pm.
  • She is such a sweet happy girl. She makes friends and smiles at everyone everywhere we go. We seriously cannot go to HEB without people talking to her. I love her kisses that she gives. I love to hear her babbling up a storm. She is so precious and we are so grateful for her!

What a weekend

What a weekend

This has been a crazy weekend. Well the dishwasher went out this week so the hubby tried to fix it Friday. E and I went to the med center to visit a family friend in the hospital. Man..it can be quite disorienting to navigate the medical center, even for someone like me who is usually good with directions and maps and such.

Saturday was my high school class reunion. So my parents came to watch E while we went. Oh, and did I mention the toilet in our master bathroom started dripping? So off to the reunion we went. E did great for her babysitters. We found the place okay. It was outside which wasn’t the best locale on a day that was so hot. We chatted with people for a couple of hours and then headed out about 7. I’ll write another post about the reunion. We went to Olive Garden because I really wanted some cheese sticks. While we were there, I was so cold I was shivering. But I figured it was because I was drinking massive amounts of water because I was so thirsty. Then in the car on the way home I felt like my face was getting hot and I was just not feeling so great overall. By the time we got home, definitely felt feverish. We had thought about seeing a movie but I wasn’t feeling like it by then.  So much for a date night with free babysitters.

Sunday morning I definitely had fever and sore throat so I didn’t go to church and neither did my parents. They stayed to take care of E. She probably wore them out because lately all she wants to do is walk around holding your fingers. So much for working on our VBS room that afternoon. Then that evening,  family arrived to stay for the week and go to VBS with us. What a time to get sick!

Monday morning I woke up still with a fever and decided to make a doctor appt. I napped all morning (C took all three kids to VBS) and napped again in the afternoon. And then went to the doctor (with my 10 month old in tow…) who told me I needed tylenol and TLC. Thanks. Glad I could pay a co-pay for that. I was already doing that. But at least now I know I don’t have strep. And I think my fever might be gone for now although swallowing is still so painful.

Pardon me if this post isn’t all that coherant. Blame it on being sick. And if you people don’t start commenting more I might just have to give this gig up.
