A couple of weeks after E’s birthday, we finally found a good day to have a few friends over. An English speaking fellowship that we attend has a good number of little ones and we had some of those families over for lunch on Sunday. I recently found out they have corn dogs at a certain grocery store here. I bought a couple to try, not expecting them to be very good, but they taste fine. So I bought a bunch of corn dogs, some chips, watermelon, and made a cake for the party. It was easy.
But corn dogs proved to be an interesting choice for a reason I had not expected.
Most of the kids had never had a corn dog!!
The parents were so excited and delighted to learn that you can buy corn dogs here, but most of the kids, having lived the majority of their short lives here, had never seen a corn dog! E knew what a corn dog was! Once their parents explained how to eat it, they thought it was great and enjoyed it. Of course they loved the cake too!
After eating, they all played pretty well together for a while, as the parents sat and chatted, and E opened a couple of gifts and that was that. Not a fancy pinterest-inspired party here, but lots of fun!
