Firsts

Firsts

E got to go on her first plane ride in August. It was only an hour long flight and she did great.

She also got to make a friend and ride a baby train.

She met a horse for the first time. (The horse liked her so much, she thought she was a carrot and nibbled on her leg a little!)

And got to sit on her.

Then she got to go feed ducks.

Cutest Penguin Ever

Cutest Penguin Ever

We went with movie themed Halloween costumes…

Please tell me you knew that we are Mary Poppins, Burt the Chimney Sweep, and yes there is a penguin in that movie! The part where they are in the chalk drawing and have tea served by some tap dancing penguins!

You see, pinterest really inspired it all. I saw a Mary Poppins and Chimney Sweep couple costume and that got me to thinking. That is the hubby’s favorite movie and we always have our junior staff Hallo-wii party that we go to where everyone always comes up with great costumes! And then I remembered the penguin in the movie and thought I would make E a costume from just a black track suit with some white for the tummy. But then I found this site and it had a great tutorial for a penguin costume so I made that. It was pretty easy, especially since I used felt which was cheap and didn’t need hemming.

Here are E’s buddies at the Hallo-wii party:

And she got to party again on the actual Halloween at our church’s Trunk or Treat:

15 month milestones

15 month milestones

Today I was enjoying hanging out with E and I realized I need to record what all she is doing lately.

    em baylor outfit

  • She is saying anything you ask her to. She has repeated words such as grilled cheese and diaper, although she hasn’t really used them on her own yet. My favorite today was that when you try to get her to say book, she says “cook”. And boy does she love you to read her “cook”s. She brings one to you and backs up to your lap to get comfy. She will almost let you read the whole thing sometimes if she doesn’t get too eager to turn the pages.
  • E’s words: mama, dada, Gracie, kitty cat, more, please, thank you, all done, cracker, apple, duckie, shoes, boots, hello, bye bye, up, help, Pappaw, Nena, Gigi, Evan, uh-oh, trees, cheese, amen, this, night-night.
  • Animal sounds: moo, ruff ruff, quack, hey (for a bear, with arm raised!), oh oh (monkey), meow, (tongue out for lizard), (gives a kiss when I make fish lips for goldfish).
  • She knows where her nose, eyes, mouth, ears, toes, hands, feet, and belly are.
  • I made her a penguin costume for halloween. Cutest penguin ever!
  • She can finally go up and down the step/ledge in our entry way by holding on to the wall. She also loves to climb stairs at other people’s house.
  • Two of her favorite toys are her Baylor bear and pink giraffe.
  • She is into chairs lately, or anything that is the perfect height for her to sit on, like a step.

  • Today she helped me put a whole load of clothes in the dryer, one piece at a time. She likes to help!
  • She understands and can do so much. Like if she takes something out, like say every bandaid in the box or the dirt between the sidewalk cracks, if you say “put it back”, she does. You can hand her something and tell her where to go put it and she usually will. It is cute when you ask her where something is, like a ball, she will scan the room for it and then point when she finally spies it. We are working on her knowing what “come here” means and actually doing it instead of running away in giggles.

  • Where many toddlers go through a phase of saying “no” to everything, she is more casual than that and her responce to everything with a questioning tone would be “un-un”. I guess I must say that instead of no. Finally a few days ago, she did start to respond the affirmative “un-huh” to say yes to a few questions, especially ones to her benefit like “do you want a cracker?”
  • I love to watch her take care of her baby doll. She pats her on the back so she can go night-night and she give her hugs.
  • She likes to get in her crib and run around and play. But don’t leave the room. Or if you take the crib mattress out to change the sheet, she likes to play on it.

  • It is fun to watch her own little games she plays where she puts something in and out of a box forever or sets things down just so.
  • She likes to carry around her snack cup and snack. And she will share and thinks it is hilarious to put one in your mouth. She is becoming a little more finicky with eating at the table.
  • Her hair is also getting long and needs a clip to the side or it gets in her eyes.
