Pensive…
On the move!
The outside is so fun!!
1. I am starting my 1000 gifts list again. It feels like a lot when you are on 15. I have started at least twice before, but those lists are in other places. I would copy down my first few, but I just got a new journal to start them in and so that would be a pain.
2. An exerpt from utmost.org: “Jealously guard your relationship with God. Jesus prayed “that they may be one just as We are one”-with nothing in between (John 17:22). Keep your whole life continually open to Jesus Christ. Don’t pretend to be open with Him. Are you drawing your life from any source other than God Himself?” I need to work on guarding it and not letting it wane. It is easy to just say, oh I will do my quiet time later, but later never comes. Or feel like skipping one day will be okay. But for me that means it is hard to remember the next day. And where do I draw my life from? My husband? My child? Shopping? Eating a good meal? None of these are okay.
3. Matthew 13:58 says “58 And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.” Sometimes people ask or talk about why we don’t see miracles nowadays like they did in Bible times. Maybe this is why. He doesn’t do them here because we don’t have faith that he will.
4. I am trying to pre-plan blogging topics on google calendar. Maybe this will help me actually write more! Comments will probably also make me write more, hint, hint!
5. Are you on goodreads? If so, tell me your username so I can see what you read.
6. Today I had the extremes. An awful meal from a fast food place and an excellent meal that I had made at home. It was a good reminder of the way it should be. I feel like it wasn’t that long ago that I used to really crave and always think fast food/restaurant food was better. That made it hard to cook at home, when I was thinking a certain thing would be really good. Today was a nice reminder that the things I can create easily at home, for less money, and with much greater health benefits, really does suit my tastebuds better anyway. (It was a chicken strip dinner from Sonic. They DO NOT HAVE my favorite thing there anymore, the crispy chicken sandwich. It is now a chicken STRIP sandwich. Yuck! What is the point of that, they will just fall off the sandwich?! And the tots were soggy and the gravy was not mixed well. Such a disappointment!) (The good meal was homemade beef stew, cornbread, and sweet tea!)

What a fun weekend!
On Friday we had a nice day at home for most of the day. I have been checking out books from the library lately, but it is hard to browse with a squirmer on your hip so I had an ingenious idea. Holds! No, not ask someone to hold my child for me,
but ask someone to hold books for me. I went through my goodreads, where I have stored ideas of books I want to read, and searched for those books on my library’s online website and put in a hold request for several. So on Friday I got an email saying that 5 of them were ready for pick up. During E’s first nap I went to try to get them, only to find out that the library doesn’t open til 1 on Fridays!
So we all went back later and got them. When we walked in, who did we happen to see, but some friends dressed up like Santa and mrs. Claus! E had her first intro to Santa but wanted nothing to do with him, unfortunately. I snapped a pic with C’s phone but it isn’t even worth posting.
Then that night we had our sunday school class Christmas party. We played some fabulous games including the White Elephant game. In the words of Desi…we hit an all time low. Some gifts were ones that were from previous years, and some were not, but they were almost all bad. Usually in white elephant there is something that people want to steal, but not this year. And the #1 person put her gift back in the middle at the end and NO ONE wanted it! So we kept stealing things until most things were locked, only because no one wanted that gift. Someone finally had mercy and ended it.
Saturday we went to a party for my extended family and it was so fun to see everyone. E had fun playing with some second cousins. Then yesterday we had church and grabbed lunch on the way home. Then we napped! I love the glorious moment when you crawl in the covers and snuggle down, ready to fall asleep! Unfortunately, E woke up like a bear. I don’t know what happened but she truly woke up on the wrong side of the crib and nothing would make her happy. We went to a great performance at church last night and now I am blogging instead of wrapping presents!
What did you do this weekend?
So I am sitting here at Starbucks with my computer. Does that mean my posts will automatically come out witty and well-worded like Lindsey‘s?
I bet that it won’t. Especially since it is the end of the day, a day filled with lots of yelling (by E and myself) and I don’t know that I will be able to form a well thought out post, so instead I will post tidbits.
Little Miss E LOVES to walk with you holding her fingers. She would rather do this than anything! We thought she would skip crawling altogether, but the past day or two she has taken a couple of crawl strides. It sure would alleviate some back pain around our house if she would just crawl.
So VBS finished out well and we really enjoyed our visit from family. We went to VBS family night on Friday and E had fun playing. Saturday we took it easy and enjoyed a lazy day mostly, except a swim birthday party which was fun.
Sunday was church and also two special holidays…Father’s Day (C’s first) and our 7th Anniversary! (Here is a fun post I wrote once about our anniversaries.) We went to church and came home to eat leftovers for lunch. Then E and I took naps. Then we went to Target and Taco Cabana for dinner. It was a nice leisurely dinner with E having fun eating her food and us having a nice chat while trying to get her to not drop her food on the floor. We will go for our actual anniversary date on Wednesday. Our friends will babysit and we have a gift card to use to a nice restaurant.
Last year we went there for our anniversary after attending birth class.
Yes, we spent 6 hours of our 6th anniversary learning about how to birth a baby.
Luckily our instructor was hilarious! It was a Saturday so we had to wait like an hour or more at the restaurant, but we shouldn’t this time, since it is on Wednesday.
Monday I went to Old Navy and used my two groupons. I bought myself one ($10 for $20 of merchandise) and my sweet hubby bought me one as a gift so I had two. Then I went to Target where I was in search of these sweet little bowls that caught my eye a long time ago. I had found them for $1.74 but there was only one, so I went to a different Target and found a lot, and bought 5.
Today involved a trip to the library where I got some fun books that I will be blogging more about tomorrow.
Hope you had a great day!
