Randomness….

  • Baby Girl is quite the mover and shaker these days! Sometimes my stomach moves so much it is comical to watch and imagine what she must be doing in there! I have had indigestion a good bit, and am now waking up at least twice every night to use the bathroom. Fun times!
  • Last week was my first full week off for the summer. I worked on my to-do list the first few days, and then rested the next couple of days. I realized that I will not have time to myself to just rest and not work or take care of a child again for a long time, so I better take advantage of it!
  • This week is VBS! I am working in the 5 year old room and today we had 19 kids. It went well, but I am pretty tired. I came home and took a nice nap!

  • Here is a picture of us from the hubby’s grandmother’s 80th birthday party that we went to a few weekends ago. He has lost more than 20 lbs!  (He is using an iphone app called Lose It to keep track of calories.) Go Hubby! Our anniversary is coming up this weekend! Happy Anniversary to all you other folks out there with June anniversaries! Our pastor preached a good message on marriage last Sunday called “Married with a Mission”. Here it is.
  • Anyone following the Big 12 issue? I think they should just leave it all alone! It will be interesting to see how it turns out. We drove around Baylor last time we were in Waco. I got all teary eyed thinking of how much I love that school. (and some pregnancy hormones probably thrown in there too…)  It has so many special memories and was such a sweet time! Thanks Mom and Dad for sending me there!

I have been getting spam comments. They are copying what other people write in my comments and putting a new name on them. Does anyone else get this?

I have been trying to use up all the travel shampoo and conditioner that we have collected over the years before I buy more. So far it has been like a week and I probably have enough for a couple of more weeks.

Organic milk is like twice the price of regular milk. But I really do feel better about it being free of antibiotics and hormones and such. I really do think we Americans are poisoning ourselves with what we eat and drink. All of the pesticides and hormones and BPA and other chemicals in everything, not to mention eating genetically modified produce and highly processed foods. That did not however stop me from eating out several times this week or enjoying a Blue Bell cookie ice cream sandwich at the Astros game. I am trying to make little changes but no major overhaul in this area.

I have bought tubs to make a keepsake box for each of us so that all the little trinkets and papers we hold on to for sentimental reasons are not scattered about. First the stuff was in boxes and I moved it to the tubs today.

I organized my office closet a few weeks ago and it makes me very happy to look in there and see all the beautiful neatness.

I went through my closet in my classroom and found all the little random objects that one might call “junk” and made a treasure chest for my students. We are doing a ticket reward system and if I draw their ticket they get to pick out of the box. It is funny what they like. Package of peanut butter crackers. Three pens rubber banded together. A bottle of lotion. I am happy with this system so far. I am cleaning out my closet, I didn’t have to spend money on prizes, and they are liking what they get. :)

Well its bedtime!  Have a great Monday!

Ode to the garage

Ode to the garage

The place we now live is the first place in my life that has afforded me the luxury of a garage. I feel like I may have blogged about this before. Sorry if I have. I realize this won’t be that exciting of a post to most of you. Especially if you have always lived with a garage.

I love having a garage. I love having a garage door opener. We got ours for Christmas a few years ago. A silly present to ask for it might seem, but so worth it! Today it was really cold when I went to the grocery store. And the wind was blowing! I thought my fingers would freeze to the shopping cart as I was walking to my car. But when I got home, I backed my Wheezer into the garage and proceeded to unload my groceries in relative warmth. It was awesome. So I just thought I should take a minute to thank the Lord for the simple pleasure of a garage.

Anywhere a cat can go…

Anywhere a cat can go…

Someone once told me the way to identify a preposition in a sentence is to remember that a preposition is anywhere a cat can go. Well my cat goes lots of places. Here are some funny pictures of where we have found our cat Buddy over the past five years.
