Versatile pieces for your maternity wardrobe

21 May 2010

Before I was pregnant, I bought this skirt from Target:

black jersey skirtIt is kinda hard to tell, but it is just a jersey skirt, with a fold down top. It has turned out to be great, because it is a good maternity skirt too since it is so stretchy!  I also have a pair of these jersey gauchos in brown:

gauchosand the same is true of them since they are all stretch. Really anything that is stretchy at the top could potentially make the transition into maternity gear. I have this blue skirt that I have had for about 4 years

and it still works great because the entire top is elastic. So I would recommend buying these type items if you are pregnant, or not yet but maybe soon to be, because you will get a lot of use out of them!

First day of spring, huh?

20 March 2010

Man is it windy outside! And it is going to be like 34 tonight in H town! I can’t believe today is the first day of spring, because it doesn’t feel like it! This is the winter that just won’t quit! Nevertheless, I am shopping for a maternity swimsuit. Any suggestions? Bring on the warm weather!

Oh and I realized that in less than 5 months, I am going to have a child. Isn’t that crazy?????

Cute Maternity Shirts

4 February 2010

The bulding that my doctors office is in is full of ob/gyn offices since it is right next to the Women’s Hospital. There is even a statue what looks like two women throwing a baby to each other in front, although I am sure it is supposed to have a much more maternal and gentle image than that. In the first floor, there is a shop for baby clothes, (with the cutest smocked Baylor dress I have ever seen- for $68!!) a restaurant called “Crave” and a maternity clothes store. Catering to the market anyone? And the things in that maternity clothes store are so expensive. I begged the hub to stop by on our way out after an appointment one day, and as I was showing him some cute maternity tees, he saw the price tag of $55 and said, “Let’s go…NOW!” That was a bit much to pray for what it was, so I came home and started looking online for cute maternity shirts with sayings on them and here are some sites I have found:

There are several on Etsy: Heart, Baby Facts, Bun in the Oven, Mobile,  and MC Hammer.

I orded a couple from Maternity in Bloom because they are on clearance for $9.95 right now. I got “Miracle In Progress” and “Yo Mama”. :)

These from 2 Chix Maternity are cute, but a little expensive.

And if you look places like Cafe Express you can find a shirt with any saying imaginable on it, or just make it yourself!

12 (or so) weeks

30 January 2010

We had our appt on Thursday and it was so fun to see the baby! It was moving around and everything! I guess I didn’t think about it moving since I won’t be able to feel it for a while, but move it did! I think it can even do the worm, it was bouncing all around! Here is a shot of what we saw…

There really is a baby in there! Our last ultrasound was at 6.5 weeks so it was just a blur. So I think I was expecting a bigger blur, but it was so exciting to find that it looked like a baby! Its a little blurry, I took it with my phone from the printout picture. But you can see the head and body. The white that is near the face is a hand. The white at the other end is where the knees were bent which we could see more on the screen than you can in this picture. Modern technology is so amazing! We were going off a previous measurement of saying I was 11 weeks 6 days at that ultrasound, but it measured at 12 weeks 5 days, so who really knows? Anyway I am around 12 weeks or so and we all know that babies don’t usually come on due dates anyway so it doesn’t really matter to me.

Mom bought me some clothes from Motherhood. Here they are on the day I got them in the mail, which was a week or so ago at about 11 weeks.

I have worn the maternity pants some since my dress pants don’t really fit too well. For some reason I feel like I am supposed to wait as long as possible to wear maternity clothes, but really I just want to wear them now! I figure I should get the most use as possible out of them, right? And I bought a Be Band (Target version of Bella Band) but it is kinda tight, so not super comfortable. So what’s the vote, when did you girls start wearing maternity clothes?
