Virtual Shopping!

11 August 2010

Well the interesting thing about being 9 months pregnant is that you can’t really shop for much! You don’t want to buy more maternity clothes, but clearly you don’t fit into your old size, and have no idea when, if ever, you will again. And shoes don’t fit either because your feet are either swollen or have gotten bigger, or both! So you can’t even shoe shop really! So today as I was bored sitting around waiting on baby girl to start the process of showing up, I remembered how I had seen this website where you basically make an outfit board. (Like the mood boards for rooms on the Young House Love blog, for any of you who read that) The site is called Polyvore and you kinda shop and group items together. Here is my first one, and I think it is all super cute! I am really glad ruffles are so in fashion right now, I am a big fan! So go make yourself an outfit and post it and leave me a comment. I want to see what you pick out! (You can sort by price too, so this stuff all ended up being within a reasonable price.) You can click the picture to go to the site and see what items I put in and how much they cost. And then you can make your own!

Versatile pieces for your maternity wardrobe

21 May 2010

Before I was pregnant, I bought this skirt from Target:

black jersey skirtIt is kinda hard to tell, but it is just a jersey skirt, with a fold down top. It has turned out to be great, because it is a good maternity skirt too since it is so stretchy!  I also have a pair of these jersey gauchos in brown:

gauchosand the same is true of them since they are all stretch. Really anything that is stretchy at the top could potentially make the transition into maternity gear. I have this blue skirt that I have had for about 4 years

nates party 041

and it still works great because the entire top is elastic. So I would recommend buying these type items if you are pregnant, or not yet but maybe soon to be, because you will get a lot of use out of them!

For any of you last minute shoppers out there, here is a fun gift idea. (Although I must say, if you order it today online, I don’t think you can get it by tomorrow morning…) I went to Nutcracker Market this year and found this company: Sarah Jane’s

Here is the website: http://www.sarah-janes.com

They have super cute oilcloth stuff so it is very handy because you just wipe it clean. This picture is of a travel bag that I like. The fabrics have cute prints and they do monogramming.

Getting back on the wagon

20 September 2009

Yes I know. Lack of blogging. Sorry. No one else seems to be much either. The only people reading this are probably people with google reader and my mom. :) Everyone else probably stopped checking in.

We have been eating out ridiculously lately. So today I tried to get back on the wagon. Lots of wagons actually. Cooking, menu planning, coupons, taking reusable grocery bags, buying organic and now blogging. All these things I think are important but am rarely able to do them with any consistency. So today I perused the freezer to see what we had, checked the balance in the grocery section of mvelopes, printed off some coupons, checked the HEB flyer for the current combo loco, and headed to the store with my list, coupons, and bags. I did pretty well, but one thing that I cannot seem to do well is actually eat what I buy. Some things we eat up fast, but there are so many things that just stay in our pantry and never get eaten. Like the case of chex mix bags that we bought at Sam’s.

Now I have a happy tummy, full of a meatball sub that was inspired by the meal at Kara’s for home group several weeks back. I have been dreaming of those meatball subs ever since then and I finally bought stuff to make them, after having to hunt all over HEB for the meatballs. Check back later this week for the recipe.

I checked out a new store the other day, Charming Charlie’s. My friend Jess raves about this accessory store where things are grouped by color. I thought it was only jewelry, since that is what she usually gets there. But no! It is all kinds of accessories including some super cute purses! I think I am going there next time I need a purse! I got a fun silver necklace and a pink beaded necklace with earrings. Since my ears aren’t pierced, the earrings will go to the first commenter who wants them. :) They are just dangly pink beaded earrings, really cute!

Now everyone go write a blog post so that we can start up blogging again!

Random Tidbits

30 July 2009

I have been reading the Number One Ladies Detective Agency books this summer (by Alexander McCall Smith). A couple of summers ago we listened to a couple of books on tape from that series and liked them pretty well (a little slow but still good) and I have started reading the rest of the books in that series. They are easy reads, not stressful or heavy, which is what I have been looking for in a summer read.

You might notice a new widget on my sidebar. Feel free to use it to search so I can earn some swagbucks :) or sign up to earn your own swagbucks here. My friend Ashley just cashed in some of hers for amazon gift cards, so it does work!

Speaking of amazon… we got a Amazon kindle. It is neat. It is great because you can read without having lots of books taking up space. I thought I wouldn’t like it because “its not a real book you can hold and turn the pages” but it is really okay. It is not like looking at a screen so it doesn’t really hurt your eyes.

I am now a Vera Bradley fan. I have a wallet from there and it is just too fun! I wanted a new one, my old one was bulging and didn’t match all my purses. I also wanted it to have a wrist strap and be able to put my cell phone and chapstick in it. Well when I bought it, it didn’t have a wrist strap but I thought, oh well, I like it anyway. Later after I got it, I found it did have one! It was just hiding!

Anyway, I want this Vera Bradley one day when I have a kid in Mod Floral Pink and/Or I want this Vera Bradley for a laptop bag (also in Mod Floral Pink).

I think the pinks will make my wallet go okay with that color so that I can stick it inside and it isn’t totally matchy-matchy but it “goes” as Stacy London says. What do you think? I also really like the large duffel bags for travel! It is all quite expensive but it would be fun for a Christmas/Birthday gift…hint hint mom and hubby! :) hehe There are so many fun colors, it is kinda hard to pick. I also like Peacock, Hope Garden, and Java Blue.

Have you been yet?

If you live near the west side of Houston and you have not been to the new outlet mall on 290, what are you waiting for??? The hub and I went the Friday of spring break and found some really good deals. It ruins me for going to a “normal store”! Check it out here!
